An Alcohol Dependent Individual Goes To Rehab And Gets Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcoholism
Donald used to boast to his drinking buddies how he could work at a difficult and full-time job and get inebriated almost every night. Regrettably, after maintaining this destructive lifestyle for nearly four-and-a-half years, he began to experience numerous alcohol related difficulties.
For example, he had a very difficult time getting up for work because he felt so worn-out when he got up. Furthermore, just about every morning Donald had an appalling hangover. Obviously, the mixture of his lack of get-up-and-go and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel like he wanted to go to work. To make things worse, around a week ago he got his third driving under the influence citation in the past eight weeks.
To further compound things, at his place of employment his last two work appraisals were not up to his usual high standards. And lastly, his four-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had gone downhill due to his depression, financial difficulties, lack of patience, and his angry outbursts.
Though Donald was only twenty seven years old, he honestly began looking like he was in his early forties. Regrettably, this is what abusive and careless drinking can do to an individual. And in all candor he comprehended that he was suffering from the adverse consequences of alcohol dependency or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to throw away his life to abusive and unhealthy drinking. So initially he tried to drink responsibly and in moderation. Sadly, he soon understood that he lost all control after drinking his first alcoholic beverage. Since this was an event that was repeated every single time he drank, this greatly disturbed him. In truth, he started to wonder if he was manifesting some of the stages of alcoholism.
After going over his alcohol drinking problems and his irresponsible and hazardous drinking with his lady friend, he eventually decided to schedule an appointment to see his physician. When Donald saw his healthcare professional, he frankly confirmed that he has been drinking in an abusive manner, that he may be displaying behavior that is illustrative of the different alcoholism stages, and that he wants to abstain from drinking. He then declared that drinking responsibly and in moderation does not work for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can develop an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Donald also told his physician about his depression and how this mental health problem was adversely influencing his relationship with his girlfriend. His physician referred Donald to Doctor Lenson, a drug and alcohol addiction therapist, who motivated Donald to enter into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol rehabilitation. The good news is that Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this treatment clinic.
After five months of rigorous treatment, Donald left the in-patient rehabilitation clinic and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Encouraged to change his life in a healthier manner, Donald joined a fitness center and began working out three or four times per week. Within four months Donald was a new man. He was eating nutritious meals, he was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, and most significant of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also did not resort to angry outbursts, he became more patient, and he became a more loving individual in his relationship with his lady friend. In brief, abstaining from drinking was the best decision Donald had ever made.
